Two Dead Following Crash on Route 6 in Foster

The Rhode Island State Police are reporting that two people have died following a two-car crash on Route 6/Danielson Pike in Foster on Monday morning.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified as Ronald Desrosiers, age 72, of 461 Brooklyn Road, Canterbury, Connecticut.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he later died.

He was identified as Vincent Spooner Jr., age 53, of 15 Carriage Drive, Lincoln.

The Crash

According to the State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 7 a.m. near Rams Tail Road when a pickup truck headed east on Danielson Pike veered across the double yellow line and into oncoming traffic, striking the front of another pickup truck that was headed west.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time and the airbags were deployed in both vehicles.

No passengers were in either vehicle at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by troopers from the Rhode Island State Police Scituate Barracks and the Collison Reconstruction Unit.
