Tow Truck Driver Says Man Pointed Gun at Him in Providence While Trying to Tow Car

A tow truck driver told police a man pointed a gun at him early Thursday morning as he attempted to tow a car in South Providence.

Shortly after 2 AM on Thursday, police responded to Burnside Avenue for a report of a person with a gun.

The victim told police a man came out of the house and pointed a gun at him, and told him to put the vehicle down, and then went back inside.
The tow truck driver then called police, who found the man inside the house for questioning.
The suspect, Emmanuel Lopez Melendez, age 38, admitted to taking a gun outside to confront the tow truck driver but claimed he didn’t point it at him.
Police seized the gun and took Melendez to Central Station for charging.
