Top Entertainment, Financial Literacy Execs to Present at YesPVD Virtual Youth Summit on August 29

The YesPVD virtual youth summit has announced two of its presenters for the online education and professional development forum for youth taking place on August 29. 

Marcy Reyes, internationally recognized businesswoman and change maker, who is the Founder and CEO of The Financial Literacy Youth (FLY) Initiative, will take part, along with Wayne J. Montague, Jr. who was born and raised in Providence, and is currently a top entertainment executive in New York City.

“On Saturday, August 29th, Rhode Island’s #1 Youth Summit – #YESpvd! About Presenters

Marcy Reyes

Reyes, internationally recognized businesswoman, and change maker, is the Founder and CEO of The Financial Literacy Youth (FLY) Initiative, a non-profit organization that provides culturally responsive financial literacy programming to underserved and underrepresented students; empowering youth with the knowledge, skills and experiences to end generational poverty. 

As a Puerto Rican woman born into a family with little resources or support networks and with approximately 18 years of accumulated experience in the areas of finance, education and healthcare, Marcy is uniquely suited to understand the challenges of the community she serves. She started her own academic career by putting herself through Rhode Island College and later received her Masters in Finance from Northeastern University and is currently pursuing her CFP from Bryant University. In addition to her work with The FLY Initiative, Marcy serves, as an adjunct faculty member in Rhode Island College’s School of Business, is the former Assistant Vice President of Consumer Credit for Santander Bank, N.A., and is the current Director of the Individual Segment at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI).

In 2017, Marcy was credited for establishing a partnership between RIC and BCBSRI to bring in skilled Spanish- and Portuguese- speaking students to participate in internship opportunities. In recognition of her contributions to further diversity, Marcy was honored with the Ronald McDonald House Women’s Leadership Award. Marcy was also credited by Providence Business News for bringing much-needed diversity to one of the state’s most prominent corporations and was the 2018 recipient of the Rhode Island College Young Alumni Award in recognition of her contributions to the college and the community. In 2018, Marcy was also presented with the BCBSRI IDEA award from CEO, Kim Keck – for spearheading important work to improve healthcare accessibility, which was highlighted in the article, “Paving a new road to help multilingual Patients better manage their care.”

Marcy recently received international recognition as Female Executive of the Year at the 15th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business; the world’s premier business awards. Marcy’s work has been featured on WPRI 12 Eyewitness News The Rhode Show, on Next Gen Personal Finance’s national podcast and in the The Providence Journal article People on the move in RI. In 2019, Marcy presented as an invited guest at the RI State Treasurer’s roundtable where she was recognized for her contributions to the white paper “Fallen Behind”. In addition to her many achievements, Marcy proudly serves her community as a member of the BCBSRI Diversity and Inclusion Council, as Chairwoman of Latin@Link, an employee business resource group (EBRG), on the Rhode Island College Alumni Association Board of Directors and as a YearUp mentor for the class of 29’.

Wayne J. Montague, Jr. 

Montague was born and raised in Providence, RI and currently resides in New York City. He graduated from Classical High School and attended the University of Rhode Island (Talent Development Program) where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors from the College of Business. Additionally, he obtained his Master of Business Administration degree from URI’s intensive one-year College of Business graduate program. 

During his undergrad, Wayne worked as a summer intern at Big 4 accounting firm, PwC, in Boston and earned a full-time offer during his junior year. Immediately after graduating from URI, he transferred from PwC’s Boston office and began his career in audit at their NYC location – working within their Entertainment, Media, and Communications (EMC) industry division. At PwC, he successfully audited international and domestic clients within the entertainment industry, including: Def Jam Music, VEVO, and Thomson Reuters.

After two years with PwC, Wayne found an opportunity to start a dream career at Madison Square Garden within their Live Entertainment Finance division. At MSG, he has grown from Senior Financial Analyst to Director of Finance, Live Concerts and Operations – where he successfully leads financial operations for high-profile live events, conducts strategic deal/offer analysis that drives forward business development, and spearheads organizational process improvements. Over the course of his career, he has led financials for 430+ live events at venues across the country. Event highlights include:
