A business on Atwells Avenue on Federal Hill in Providence has been hit with an emergency closure order for what will be one of the busiest weekends of the year.

The move comes following a report of shots fired outside the establishment Friday morning.

The immediate closure of Nara Lounge and Restaurant — located at 248 Atwells Avenue — was ordered by the Board of Licenses late on Friday afternoon, forcing it to be shuttered for the weekend.

This is just the latest incident for the club.

In 2019, a man was fatally stabbed inside Nara; in 2022, the club owner was reportedly threatened at gunpoint earlier in 2022.

The business is entitled to a show-cause hearing to establish whether it can reopen after 72 hours.
