Roger Williams University has appointed Ronald Champagne as the interim president, effective today.

Champagne is a former president of Saint Xavier University in Chicago, served for four years as senior vice president for development at the Alzheimer’s Association, and, most recently, was interim president at Shimer College and Merrimack College.

“In seeking the best candidate for the interim president post, we focused on identifying an accomplished leader in education and an individual with the enthusiasm and creativity to sustain the University’s momentum during this important transition,” said Richard L. Bready, Chairman of the RWU Board of Trustees. “I am elated to welcome Dr. Champagne to Roger Williams and have no doubt that he will be a strong, capable leader as we select the University’s next permanent president.”
