RI’s Job Lot Announces It Is Putting Expansion on Hold Due to Threat of Truck Tolls

In a phone interview with GoLocalProv, top Job Lot executive David Sarlitto told GoLocalProv that the company was putting on hold a $50 million expansion that included 500,000 square foot new facility. 

Salitto, executive director with Job Lot, said that the truck toll legislation is a threat to their operating their business in Rhode Island and another example of the State bing in hospitable to business.

Job Lot operates 123 stores on the East Coast and started and has grown in Rhode Island. The company is one of the largest employers in Rhode Island.

It is headquartered in North Kingstown at Quonset.

Ocean State Job Lot opened for business in 1977 as a single store operation in North Kingstown, RI.

"The idea was to sell brand name, first quality products at closeout prices. We understood that people work hard for their money. Our job was to deliver the best values possible. That was the idea then and that's still our goal today. Although we are known as a closeout company, we prefer to think of ourselves as opportunistic merchants," said the Company's website
