RIPTA Riders Alliance to Host Press Conference on Revamp of Kennedy Plaza
Monday, August 04, 2014
The RIPTA Riders Alliance will host a press conference on August 5 to discuss the revamping of Kennedy Plaza that has reduced bus facilities in the area.
The conference will be at 5 pm at Kennedy Plaza, on the side facing City Hall.
Don Rhodes, President of RIPTA Riders Alliance, said, “The Kennedy Plaza makeover is billed as a public-private partnership but the public is being excluded from the equation to benefit private interests only--at taxpayers’ expense. We call for public hearings starting immediately to review the proposal and recommend improvements. We urge the City to work with bus passengers to help build an efficient, user-friendly transit system that can attract more riders and help the city prosper.”
