RI Ranks 26th in U.S. News and World Report’s “Best States” in 2024 - 47th for Fiscal Stability

U.S. News and World Report's rankings for “Best States” are out — and overall, Rhode Island is 26th.
Utah is the best state in the U.S. according to U.S. News & World Report, who evaluated all 50 states to capture how states "best serve their citizens" across a range of categories, including health care, education, economy, infrastructure, opportunity, fiscal stability, crime & corrections and natural environment.
In New England, Rhode Island ranks second from last -- New Hampshire is 2nd, Vermont is 7th, Massachusetts is 10th; and Connecticut is 20th.
