Michael Robertson, the suspect Providence Police identified as responsible for firing gunshots at PVDFest, has turned himself in.

Law enforcement officials confirmed Monday that Robertson was joined by his lawyer David Cooper at court, where he was arraigned on charges of carrying a pistol/revolver without a license or permit; convicted of a crime of violence and a fugitive from justice in possession of a firearm; and firing in a compact area.

Providence Police have identified Michael Robertson as the person responsible for firing gunshots at PVDFest last Saturday night.

According to police, detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Robertson and are working to locate him.

“Robertson should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached,” wrote the Police in their press release.

As GoLocalProv reported, Providence Police urged Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza not to allow open alcohol container drinking at PVDFest, but Elorza overruled them.

On Saturday night at 11 pm, a gunman ripped off a number of shots sending hundreds of PVDFest attendees running.

The shooting was the second shooting at PDVFest in the past three years. In 2017, Mike Marrow was shot and paralyzed.

Elorza’s spokesperson Emily Crowell said in a statement to GoLocal, “Open container has been a standing policy during PVDFest. At this point time, the incident is under investigation.”
