A Providence man was attacked by a man with a machete. The attacker is described as being in his 50s with a ponytail. He was wearing blue clothes.

The victim said he had seen the man before, but said he did not know his attacker's name.

The attack took place in the Cranston Street area at about 3:00 PM on Sunday.

The victim suffered a severe laceration.
