West Greenwich Murder-Suicide of 4 Involved Two Children Under 6

Four bodies found in West Greenwich nearly a week ago were determined to be a murder-suicide, according to law enforcement.

A pregnant mother and her two young children were found shot to death, and the deceased shooting suspect was the woman’s husband and children's father.

According to police, the victims were 39-year-old Danielle Arruda, and her 5-year-old and 2-year-old children. According to Chief Richard Ramsey, Danielle Arruda was seven months pregnant.

"There was no sign of life, and all four had suffered fatal gunshot wounds," said Ramsey, describing what police found when they entered the home last Friday.

All of the victim's bodies suffered multiple wounds from a semi-automatic weapon.

Police say Nicholas Arruda, 39, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, with a semi-automatic weapon, believed to be the murder weapon.

The family has lived in the home since 2019.

Ramsey said police have not identified a motivation for the murders and suicide.
