Clements said the driver is in “critical condition” at the hospital as of Sunday night.

Earlier in the evening, GoLocal reported:

Hundreds of all-terrain-vehicles — and dirt bikes — ran rampant in Providence on Sunday, with an estimated 300 individuals taking to city roads and state highways.

The off-road vehicles are illegal for use on streets — and while the City of Providence has continued a “no-chase” policy hindering the ability of police to pursue and apprehend individuals, a reported accident saw police interact with at least one rider.

Video provided by the account “RI Incidents”  to GoLocal showed the vehicles in downtown Providence.

According to reports, Providence police at one point were following an estimated 300 all-terrain bikes on Canal and Charles Street at one point Sunday afternoon.

An accident reportedly occurred at Elmwood Avenue at Bissell Street, to which police responded.
