NEW: Providence Police Respond to Multiple Stabbings, Carjacking, Armed Robbery Overnight

Providence Police responded to reports of a stabbing, a carjacking, and armed robbery, and more in the city overnight.

Wednesday 11:09 PM -- Armed Robbery 

Police were dispatched to 335 Hartford Avenue for a report of an armed robbery. Police arrived on scene and met with the victim who reported that as he was cutting through Merino Park when he was confronted and assaulted by three males that he believed to be 25-30 years old.

The victim further reported that one subject was in possession of a small black firearm, and another was in possession of a metal baseball bat.

The victim stated that as he was coming back through the park, he got to the bottom of the stairs of the overpass bridge and was approached by the individuals, and said that the individual with the baseball bat struck him twice, once in the hand and once in the lower back/ hip area. The victim said the assailants took his LG, Stylo 6 and $600 in cash.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with hand and back pain.

Wednesday 11:10 PM -- Stabbing

Police responded to Manton and Unit Street for a report of a stabbing.  Upon arrival police met with the victim, who said was taking his trash out behind his apartment when he was approached by three males approximately 18 years of age and all with short hair.  

The victim said one of the males asked him in Spanish if they could use his cell phone, at which time 2 of the males each produced a knife and stabbed him simultaneously.  One of the stab wounds was to the left side of his chest and the other was to his left thigh.  He stated all of the subjects then fled the area on foot possibly going outbound on Manton Avenue.  

The victim stated he does not know the subjects and has not seen them before. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for further medical treatment.  

Wednesday 11:40 PM -- Car Jacking

Police responded to 257 Allens Avenue for a report of a stolen motor vehicle at gun point.

Upon arrival police were approached by the complainant who stated that while he was parked on Poe Street sitting inside his vehicle, a male subject walked up to his vehicle and demanded that he exit the vehicle.

Police spoke further with the complainant who said that the male subject opened the door to his vehicle, struck him beside the head with a heavy object, which he described as a firearm and asked him to exit the vehicle. The complainant stated that the male subject entered the vehicle and fled towards Eddy Street.

Thursday 12:30 AM -- Stabbing 

Police responded to 12 Devereux Street for a report of a male stabbed in the face.  Upon arrival police met with the victim who was bleeding from the forehead and face.  He stated he had come over to his child's mother's house at 12 Devereux St, and when he arrived, a subject known to him was outside. The victim said when approached the subject to say hello, the subject cut him with an unknown object that caused a laceration to the left side of his face and also stabbed him in the forehead. 

According to the victim, the subject then fled. The victim was transported to RI Hospital for further medical treatment.  

Thursday 2:16 AM -- Felony Assault (Vehicle)

Police responded to the area of Cranston Street and Benedict Street for a report of a 911 hang-up.  Upon arrival, police observed a female subject laying on the ground suffering from an apparent right leg injury.  She repeatedly stated to police that she had been intentionally struck by a car driven by a male subject whom she knows as "Joe."

Multiple witnesses on scene corroborated the victim's account that the vehicle had appeared to strike her intentionally, 

Police broadcast a description of the vehicle and also advised that it may be heading to the area of district 7.  A short time later, police observed a vehicle bearing the description on Valley Street. A traffic stop was conducted in the vicinity of Valley and Wolcott Street, at which time the operator of the vehicle was a female, who stated that she had just taken possession of the vehicle but advised that her boyfriend had been driving the vehicle earlier.  

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
