Providence Police Make Two Firearms Arrests in 48 Hours

Providence police arrested and charged two individuals on Sunday and Monday on firearms offenses.

Shortly after 1 AM Sunday morning, police conducted a motor vehicle stop at Potters and Noyes on a black Nissan X-Terra after observing several moving violations.

Police stated they observed the operator, identified as Clarence Page, to be reaching around inside the passenger compartment and acting "extremely nervous" once contact was made.    

During a search of the interior of the vehicle, police seized a KEL TEC .380 from the rear pocket behind the passenger's seat.    

Detectives charged Page with Carrying a Pistol Without a License and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.

On Monday at approximately 9:15 PM, police observed a dark-colored Chevy operating at a high rate of speed on Allens Avenue before committing several motor vehicle violations.   

Police then conducted a traffic stop as the vehicle traveled onto Poe Street.  According to police, as they approached the operator, identified as Luvy Depina, they observed him reaching towards the rear seat of the vehicle.  

Upon making contact with Depina, police said they observed a large amount of U.S. currency in the middle console and Depina stated that he was "on his way to Silhouettes."

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police located a backpack on the rear seat found to contain a loaded 9MM Canik TP Elite-S handgun containing 10 rounds.  

Upon further investigation, Detectives were able to charge Depina with Carrying a Pistol Without a License.
