Providence Police Apprehend Suspect in 2023 Homicide

Providence police have announced that they have arrested an individual in connection to a 2023 homicide in the city. 

On Thursday, PPD released the following: 

"Following investigation, Providence Police Detectives apprehended Nathan Rodrigues (DOB 7/1/2001) for the drive-by shooting/murder of Jhensen Baldayac, age 34, which occurred on August 3, 2023 on June Street.

Rodrigues was charged with murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon (ADW), conspiracy and other firearm-related charges. 

During this incident, two additional individuals were shot and suffered severe injuries, resulting in the ADW charges against Rodrigues.  

"I commend our Detective Bureau for their tireless efforts throughout this case which resulted in removing a violent criminal from our streets," said Colonel Perez. "I would also like to recognize the Detectives who worked this case, Joseph Nezier and Alicia Hersperger as well as Sergeant Andres Perez for his oversight of this investigation."
