PC Student, Reportedly High on Mushrooms, Bites Security Officer—Charged With Simple Assault

Providence police responded to a report of an overdose at Providence College (PC) on Monday night.
According to police, the student -- Andrew Rogers -- was in possession of mushrooms and needed to be restrained, after biting a PC security officer.

Upon arrival, police report that they placed handcuffs on Rogers for the safety of all individuals involved due to Rogers's erratic behavior.
Providence College Security told police they found two clear plastic bags containing suspected mushrooms. Providence Police seized the bags containing the suspected mushrooms and placed them into an envelope and delivered them to the secured narcotics safe in Patrol to be destroyed.
The security officer bit by Rogers informed police that he wished to press charges against Rogers.
Police responded back to Rhode Island Hospital and provided Rogers with a 6th District Release to appear for Simple Assault on November 17.
PC said they are currently investigating the incident.
