NEW: Man Struck and Killed by Amtrak Train Overnight

A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak Acela train in Rhode Island overnight.

Warwick Police said that at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22, members of the department met with Amtrak Police and responded to the area of 4372 Post Road following a report of a male who had been struck by a train.  

Police said that upon arrival, officers located an adult male on the railroad tracks.

Preliminary Investigation

According to police, the male, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, has not been identified as of Monday morning.

Police say that preliminary information indicates that he was struck by Amtrak Acela Train No. 132.

The Warwick Police Department Detective Division, in coordination with the Amtrak Police Department, is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
