About Incident

Providence Police responded to the Omni Hotel on West Exchange Street for a report of a robbery shortly before 9 PM on Monday.

According to police, the victim - a male in his mid-20s - said he had left the mall with a friend via the "skybridge" and entered the Omni Hotel.

The victim told police they were unsure of how to exit the hotel, so they attempted to leave via a stairwell.

At that time, the victim said they were approached by three men who blocked the doorway to leave.

One of the men demanded his belongings, and if he didn't give them to them, they threatened that they would stab him; the victim told police the three men were armed with knives.

The victim told police that his phone and wallet were taken.

The suspects then fled the scene, said the victim.

Detectives are currently investigating.
