NEW: Man Dies After Shark Attack on Cape Cod

A man has died after a shark attack on Cape Cod on Saturday, according to reports.
According to the Cape Cod National Seashore Twitter account, which is part of the National Park Service, a man was attacked in Wellfleet shortly after noon, before succumbing to injuries from the attack.
The Cape Cod NS reported:
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTAt approximately 12:30 pm on Saturday, September 14, a person was allegedly [sic] bite by a shark 300 yards south of Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet. The patient is being transported to Cape Cod Hospital via ambulance. US park rangers and Wellfleet Police are investigating.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Cape Cod NS Tweeted that the man had passed.
UPDATE: The Wellfleet Police Department is reporting that the male victim succumbed to the injuries.
According to the Cape Cod Times,
The most recent fatal shark attack in Massachusetts was at Hollywood Beach above Mattapoisett Harbor in Buzzards Bay in 1936. Nearly 40 years prior, in 1897, a man fishing south of Lynn was killed.
