Peter “Let Me Tell You Something, Pal” Alviti is at it again.

The embattled Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) Director, who the McKee Administration announced this week is stepping away, on Thursday issued a long-winded defense of his performance during his tenure.

Under Alviti, the United States Attorney and the Rhode Island Attorney General took action for contamination dumped at RIDOT’s 6/10 project - which Alviti repeatedly lied about.

“To be clear, I was not fired, nor was I asked to resign,” said Alvit in a statement on Thursday. “This decision has nothing to do with the Washington Bridge.”

Alviti then threatened anyone who says otherwise.

“Rest assured, I will be paying close attention between now and August to everything that is said publicly about this,” said Alviti. “If anyone lies or misrepresents the facts for personal gain, they will hear from me—forcefully."

Alviti’s statements come almost exactly ten years after he got in the face of a constituent at a public meeting.

As GoLocal reported in 2016:

Rhode Island DOT Director Peter Alviti is caught on video letting loose at an audience member at a public hearing Monday night who asked a question about alternatives to the 6/10 Connector project.

This happened during a workshop in which the DOT invited the public to attend.

StopTollsRI has released a statement on what is shown in the video.

Public servants serve the public, at least in theory.  But when the DOT invites the public to a workshop, purportedly to gain input from the audience, see what happens. DOT director Alviti is asked a question from an audience member about alternatives to the 6/10 Connector ‘Big Dig’ project and the bullying tactics begin.
