15-Year-Old Dies After Being Pulled From Pond at Lincoln Woods

The 15-year-old who was pulled from the water at Lincolnd Woods has died, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) announced on Thursday.
DEM is confirming that the victim is Melecio DeLeon Regil of Providence, and its Division of Law Enforcement is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
DEM says it "expresses its sincerest condolences to the victim’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time."

Melecio DeLeon Regil was a bright light in the Met School community. His kindness and genuine care for others was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Over everything else, his immense love and care for his family was his guide. There are no words to truly honor who this young man was.
Melecio was involved in a tragic drowning accident this past weekend and, despite the best efforts of those around, passed away a few days later.
