Man Shot, Man Stabbed in Two Separate Incidents in Providence Overnight

Providence Police responded to a shooting -- and a stabbing -- in the city overnight.

Shortly after 3 AM Friday morning, police responded to 525 Chalkstone Avenue for a report of a shooting.

Police said that upon arrival, they saw spattered blood and found a live bullet; police added the basement appeared to be an after-hours establishment. 

According to police, an SUV attempted to flee the scene, at which time police stopped the vehicle and apprehended three individuals who were taken to Central Station for questioning. 

Police say the shooting victim — a male — sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and is in stable condition. 

 

About Stabbing 

Police also respond to Fatima Hospital early Friday morning for a report of a stabbing victim. 

According to police, the victim — a male in his 40s — said he was stabbed in the area of Snow Street in downtown Providence. 

Detectives are currently investigating.
