Man Punched in Face and Robbed Coming Out of Convenience Store in Downtown Providence

A man was injured in a robbery in downtown Providence Thursday evening.
It occurred outside the 7-Eleven on Weybosset Street across from the Johnson & Wales campus.

According to police, they met with the victim — a 49-year-old male — who said he had been assaulted and robbed of his wallet.
Police say the victim told them he was leaving the 7-Eleven on Weybosset Street, when he was approached by four unknown juveniles.
The victim told police one of the juveniles said, “Give me your money” and knocked him to the ground.
Police report the victim said he was then punched several times and his wallet was taken, before the suspects fled.
According to police, the victim was bleeding from his ear and also had a cut above his eye.
Detectives are currently investigating.
