Man Assaulted, Robbed at Gunpoint in Downtown Providence After Leaving Bar and Returning to Hotel

A man reported being robbed after leaving a bar in Providence and returning to his hotel overnight.
Police said they responded to the Renaissance Hotel shortly after midnight Monday morning for the report of the crime.
The victim — a male in his early 50s — said he had just been robbed at gunpoint.

The victim said he was walking alongside the hotel when multiple men approached him from behind and he was hit over the head with an object, knocking him to the ground.
He said one of the suspects -- a male — had a gun and ordered him to hand over his possessions.
The victim said the suspects stole his phone, wallet, a bag, and jewelry before fleeing on foot.
Detectives are currently investigating.
