Heavy Rain and Wind May Exacerbate Monday Commute—RIDOT Bridge Failure
Sunday, December 17, 2023
The National Weather Service has elevated Monday’s high wind watch to a warning and continues with a flood watch for the region.
This, coupled with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation’s bridge failure at the Washington Bridge, is expected to make the Monday morning commute difficult at best and potentially chaotic.
As a result of the Westbound closure on the Washington Bridge, the Eastbound has been split from four lanes to two lanes in each direction.
