Unregistered Moped Operator Driving on Sidewalk in Providence Facing Charges Following Crash
Monday, April 05, 2021
A female moped operator is facing multiple charges after a crash with a car on Charles Street in Providence — including driving on a sidewalk.
The accident occurred shortly after 1:30 PM on Monday.
Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements told GoLocal that while the bike was technically street legal, it was not registered, with no insurance, and the driver was operating without a license.

Both the driver and a female passenger — who were not wearing helmets — were injured, said Clements.
“Both females had non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Rhode Island Hospital,” said Clements.
Providence Police seized the vehicle.
“We always move toward that — we will be making our case,” said Clements. “We’re moving to impound. "
Clements said the full police report would be available on Tuesday.
