The latest pandemic-driven political buffoonery is now emanating from the Rhode Island State House.

More than 30 House Reps are now calling on Governor Dan McKee to delay the requirement that healthcare workers be vaccinated.

Give credit where credit is due — this is a bipartisan group of Republicans and Democrats in Name Only (DINOs) who want to make sure that this pandemic lasts as long as possible.

They are ignoring science as just about every leading healthcare organization in America — groups including the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Public Health Association, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology — has called for healthcare workers to be vaccinated.

These legislators are demanding that those seeking medical care have a greater potential for infection.

These legislators have stayed silent on almost every aspect of the pandemic. And now they immerse themselves as the Delta variant spreads and there are concerns about the Lambda and Mu variants.

No hearings have been conducted by these brave Rhode Island legislators — in fact, this bunch did not show up for work for a year.

Here is the reality. Rhode Island has bungled and mismanaged much of the response — Rhode Island ranks 4th for cases per 1 million and 6th now for deaths per 1 million (Mississippi and Louisiana have jumped over Rhode Island in the latest surge). States who are winning the fight against the virus are those that have the highest percentage of their population vaccinated.

Have these legislators called for hearings, hired an investigator, sought documents, questioned officials — of course not.

They are too busy pandering.

The fewer folks that take you to the hospital or who are in a hospital who are unvaccinated, the more spread, cases, and deaths there will be. At least 16 healthcare workers have died to date in Rhode Island, according to data from May.

The next business that closes, the next relative the gets sick and is hospitalized or the next school that gets quarantined, please thank these legislators for the political pandering.

Here is the list of legislators calling for the requirement that healthcare workers by vaccinated be eliminated:
