EDITORIAL: Dear Gov. Raimondo, “Why Don’t You Pay Us Girls As Much As Boys”
Friday, September 30, 2016
Dear Governor Raimondo,
I go to an elementary school in Rhode Island and just learned you hire girls to work for you, but you don’t pay them as much as the boys you hire, how come?
Girls are as smart as boys. Girls work as hard as boys.

I think you should give girls the same chance.
You should not have all your top people be boys.
You can learn a lot from girls and in my class, lots of the girls are smarter than boys. The boys fool around.
Please Governor, give us girls a chance.
We will show you. We are worth as much as boys.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The pay gap between men and women on the Governor Gina Raimondo’s staff has grown dramatically over her first eighteen months in office — from 14 percent to now a gap of 25 percent. She is Rhode Island's first female Governor.
In January of 2015, GoLocalProv.com looked at the pay of the men and women on Raimondo’s staff and found that despite her campaigning on the pay equity issue, the examination of staff salaries found that the gap was 14%.
