Democratic Caucus Endorses Speaker Mattiello

Rep. Nicholas A. Mattiello was unanimously endorsed to serve as the Speaker of the House of Representatives at a Democratic Caucus held at Cranston Country Club November 6.
All 63 Democrats voted for Mattiello and his team to succeed Speaker Gordon D. Fox for the 2015-2016 legislative session - Mattiello's team including the Majority Leader John J. DeSimone, Whip John G. Edwards and Deputy Whip Joseph S. Almeida.
Mattiello pledged to continue his focus on improving the economy by cutting the corporate tax rate from 9% to 7% - the lowest in New England.

We are going to address the issue this year.”
Mattiello also expressed an interest evaluating tax exemption and tax credit to help sustain and attract businesses to the area.
Mattiello will be re-appointing Reps. Charlene M. Lima (D-Dist. 14, Cranston, Providence) as the Deputy Speaker and Donald J. Lally (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown, Narragansett) as the Speaker Pro Tem once he officially is elected Speaker.
