“In recent weeks, Wanskuck has become a hot spot for criminal activity and it’s time to see action from the Providence Police Department and the city's administration. Last month, I called on the Providence Police Department for an increase in police presence to curtail this violence. Week after week, our neighborhood continues to suffer from incidents of violent crime. The foundation of a community’s quality of life is built on safety. Wanskuck is a neighborhood where children play, where families gather, where everyday life takes place. The vitality of this community takes a blow every time a gun is fired, and our community wants answers. Our community deserves action. I am urging the Providence Police Department to step in and put an end to this violence before another gun is fired, before another child is wounded, before another day in Wanskuck is overshadowed by fear.”
