Conservative Research Institute Hires Former Red Sox Player

The Ocean State Policy Research Institute, a Rhode Island-based conservative think tank, announced today that it had hired former Red Sox player Mike Stenhouse as its first executive director.

“Mike brings decades of entrepreneurial and non-profit experience to the table and to have someone with his skill-set focusing on the business and fundraising needs of the organization, will allow me to focus on the policy and organizing components that really are my passion,” said OSPRI founder Bill Felkner.

Stenhouse most recently served as the chairman of the RI Clean Slate campaign, which was an effort to get Republicans and independents elected to the General Assembly. He also was the vice president for the RI Special Olympics Board of Directors.

“Building on the work that Bill and OSPRI have achieved over the past few years, I am honored to be provided with this opportunity to further OSPRI’s mission of shining the light on the consequences of current and proposed public policy,” Stenhouse said.

Felkner, who founded OSPRI in 2007, had previously served as the President. He will not become the Director of Policy and Organizing and remain a member of the board of directors.

Felkner also announced yesterday that after the New Year, the institute will be releasing a major study on the connection between tax policies and the migration of people and wealth from Rhode Island.
