Clifford: Questions to the RI Congressional Delegation on Syria
Wednesday, October 12, 2016
Mainstream media has failed in its responsibility to hold government and government officials responsible, and to ask tough questions that might help voters better understand complex issues. Congressman have insulated themselves from the public by never addressing anything serious, and to make matters worse, mainstream media has given them a pass.
When was the last time you heard a Congressman ask a tough question? When was the last time you heard them address the mess in Syria, which appears to be leading to a war with Russia which has 7000 thermonuclear weapons?

The role of the large media outlets is now that of a parrot, which explains why the public is leaving in droves big media, and getting their news from alternative sources.
Our Congressional delegation occasionally has “rigged” town meetings, where questions are screened and censored, to insure nothing serious will be asked, and answers can be scripted. Can they not think on their feet?
Since big media will not ask serious questions of the RI Congressional delegation, I will, via GoLocalProv, in this open letter to Senators Reed, Whitehouse, and Congressmen Cicilline and Langevin.
1) What gives the US the right to decide who should rule, or not rule, Syria?
2) What legal right does the US have to bomb Syria? Footnote: Russia was invited to help in fighting ISIS by the government of Syria, the US was not.
3) If Assad is the devil incarnate, as preached by mainstream media, what does the RI Congressional delegation have to say about the following polls:
A British poll, done by ORB International, finds that 82% of Syrians blame the U.S. for ISIS.
· Early 2012, a poll showed 55 percent of Syrians wanted their President to stay.
· Internal NATO study (dated June 2013), shows 70% of Syrians support President Bashar al-Assad
· In 2014, Assad won a landslide victory (88%) in the country’s first multi-party Presidential election.
· A poll in July 2015, showed 47% of Syrians thought Assad had a positive influence on matters in Syria.
· Only 9% of the US public has any confidence in our own US Congress, and both Clinton and Trump are much more distrusted by the US public, than Assad is by Syrians.
4) If the US government’s effort to overthrow Assad is successful, then what?
5) The Constitution says that only Congress can declare war. Why did you violate your Constitutional duty in delegating that power to others?
6) Does Syria become another Iraq or Libya, another land of anarchy?
7) Is it coincidental that anarchy follows US interference?
8) And finally, why not let the Syrian people decide who should rule Syria?
