Cicilline’s Compensation at RI Foundation Jumps to $840,042
When he resigned his seat in Congress in 2023, David Cicilline took over as President and CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation. He earned $650,000 in his first year of salary.

His compensation working for the non-profit was a major boost over his salary as a member of Congress — $175,000. He began this role in June 2023.
Later that year, GoLocal reported that Cicilline hired his former political staffers to the RI Foundation and was involved in Democratic fundraisers.
Now Cicilline’s RI Foundation Salary Has Jumped
Cicilline’s salary jumped from his first year of $650,000 to $795,906 — a one-year increase of 22%. In addition, in his second year, he received an additional $44,136 in compensation, bringing his total to $840,042, according to the 2024 990 report filed by the RI Foundation.
Overall, from his congressional salary to his latest salary level at the RI Foundation, Cicilline's compensation has jumped 380%.
According to the non-profit, “As a nonpartisan public charity, the Rhode Island Foundation, like all community foundations, accepts charitable gifts of all shapes and sizes, pools and invests those gifts in financial markets so that they grow over time, and uses a responsible portion of the proceeds from those invested charitable dollars to make grants, provide scholarships, and support organizations and efforts focused on strengthening our communities and enhancing the quality of life in our state.
