video: Brown University Rally for Undocumented Immigrant Students
Wednesday, December 01, 2010
Brown University faculty and students gathered on the Main Green in support of the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act (DREAM). If passed, the DREAM Act will allow undocumented students to gain permanent residence if they obtain a college degree or serve in the military for at least two years.
The rally was organized by the Brown Immigrant Rights Coalition (BIRC). President Ruth Simmons joined BIRC student and faculty members to speak about the importance of supporting the DREAM Act, while several undocumented students shared the challenges they face as non-citizens in the U.S. Several professors also spoke at the event.
