Latest in City

The violence marks the latest in a spate of gun crimes and shootings in the city — including a 15-year-old who was shot over the 4th of July holiday.

As GoLocal reported on July 5, "Multiple Shootings in Providence: One Dead, Three Wounded, Police Break Up Massive Parties:"

Police responded to a call for a shooting in South Providence off of Broad Street shortly after midnight.

Police say they arrived and encountered a block party of hundreds of people and called for assistance from Cranston and State Police to break it up.

A 15-year-old female was shot while inside a house with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police later met with a male victim at the hospital who said he had been shot at while in the area of the block party; he had reportedly been grazed with a bullet and was treated.
