UPDATED: Bishop Hendricken Closed Due to Threat

At 7 AM school administrators at Bishop Hendricken issued a warning to students and parents not to attend school today.

President John A. Jackson issued the following statement:

“A bomb threat message was discovered this morning at Bishop Hendricken High School. The Warwick Police and the Rhode Island State Police responded and did an extensive search of the building and premises and found no credible threat. As the safety and welfare of our students is always of paramount concern, school was cancelled today. School will resume tomorrow as scheduled.”

This evening’s winter sports parent meeting will be moved to Monday, December 10, 2018 at 7pm. All athletic practices are canceled this afternoon. The drama program will conduct their dress rehearsal as scheduled this evening.

The school first tweeted at about 7 AM:

Bishop Hendricken will be closed today due to an emergency with the building. Students who were en route to school via school buses will be brought to the Big Lots parking lot on buses at 2485 Warwick Ave. More information will be released as it comes available.

And at 7:23 AM tweeted:

UPDATE: Parents of students on buses should arrange to pick up their students at the Big Lots site on Warwick Avenue.

Warwick police have confirmed that the school is closed due to a threat.
