After GoLocal Report, St. Andrew’s Notifies Families of Alleged Sexual Assault More Than a Month After Arrest


Just hours after GoLocal first unveiled that a student at St. Andrew’s School had been charged with sexual assault and simple assault, the school notified families.
The $75,000 a year boarding school in Barrington had waited more than a month after it learned of the incident to notify the St. Andrew’s School community.

Further, St. Andrew’s claims that “the school is cooperating fully with appropriate authorities as they carry out their work. We ask each of you to be thoughtful and responsible in how you respond to rumors, speculation, and unverified information…”
GoLocal revealed on Monday afternoon that the student charged also faces home confinement and must wear an ankle monitor.
The school’s chair of the Board, Anton P. Giedt, has not responded to repeated requests for comment.
Head of School on Leave
GoLocal was also the first to report that the head of school is on leave.
In a separate message to faculty and staff, the head of school, David Tinagero, announced that he was taking a leave.
He wrote, “I want to let you know that I will be taking a leave of absence for family reasons and will be away from campus for a period of time.”
In addition, Tinagero wrote, “Thank you for your understanding and for continuing to support one another and our students..
Tinagero receives an annual compensation package of $474,670, and his wife also works for the school.
Prior to joining St. Andrews in July of 2015, he served as Dean of Students and New York University’s Abu Dhabi campus for five years.
