St. Andrew’s Student Charged With Sexual Assault, Head of School on Leave

GoLocal has learned that a student at St. Andrew’s School was arrested and charged with sexual assault and simple assault.
The Barrington-based prep school has a student body of 212 middle and upper school students, including 80 boarding students. The tuition for boarding students is in excess of $75,000 per year.

GoLocal is not publishing the student's name because the individual is a juvenile.
The student has been ordered by the court to home confinement and is required to wear an ankle monitor, GoLocal has confirmed.
Further, the individual has been ordered not to contact two other students.
The school’s chair of the Board, Anton P. Giedt, did not respond to requests for comment at time of publication.

Head of School on Leave
In addition, in a message to faculty and staff, the head of school, David Tinagero, announced that he was taking a leave.
He wrote, “I want to let you know that I will be taking a leave of absence for family reasons and will be away from campus for a period of time.”
In addition, Tinagero wrote, “Thank you for your understanding and for continuing to support one another and our students..
Tinagero receives an annual compensation package of $474,670, and his wife also works for the school.
Prior to joining St. Andrews in July of 2015, he served as Dean of Students and New York University’s Abu Dhabi campus for five years.
