Thanks to Partnership with Leading Funeral Homes, GoLocal Now Has More Obituaries Than the Projo

This past week, GoLocal surpassed the Providence Journal in the number of obituaries published. 

Thanks to the 39 funeral home partners who have joined GoLocal, together we are providing southern New Englanders with the ability to tell their family’s life story -- at no cost.

This past week GoLocal published 101 obituaries — ten more than the Providence Journal, which is owned along with nearly 300 other newspapers by the Virginia-based media conglomerate Gannett.

The newspaper charges upwards of $1,000 for an obituary and up charges as much as $3,000 for longer obituaries. GoLocal, in partnership with the local funeral homes, is committed to providing no cost and no increased cost for longer-length obituaries.

“I want to thank the funeral homes across the state that have joined with us. Together we have saved families literally hundreds of thousands of dollars. Rhode Island’s funeral homes are overwhelmingly locally owned and like GoLocal connected to the community,” said Josh Fenton, CEO and Co-Founder of GoLocal24.
