Passengers on Domestic Flights Returning to RI Must Self-Quarantine for 14 Days, Cases Now at 106

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo announced 23 news cases of coronavirus in the state on Monday bringing the total to 106.
Raimondo also unveiled an announcement about domestic travel, saying she will sign an executive order requiring all domestic flights returning to Rhode Island -- in addition to international travelers -- to self-quarantine for 14 days.

We have already had anyone coming back from international travel to self-quarantine for 14 days," said Raimondo.
"Beginning at 7 AM on March 24, anyone returning to Rhode Island by plane must self-quarantine for 14 days — domestic or International," said Raimondo. "I know there are a lot of Rhode Islanders who have been on vacation — come home, however, when you arrive back to our airport you are being directed to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days."
"We will have staff at T.F. Green greeting you and asking for your contact information. Probably by a member of the National Guard, asking for your information — in order to keep you safe and enable us to put a lid on this disease," she said.
Raimondo noted this will not apply to health care workers, public health workers, and public safety professionals.
"To commuters — the fact is in our region there are thousands of people who commute. If you can work from home, work from home," said Raimondo. "If you’re a Rhode Island business, your company here, and employees in Massachusetts — I’m asking you again to make every provision possible for your employees to do remote business."
"Many of you are asking me to shut down borders — I hear you, but I’m trying to maintain some semblance of an economy. I am not taking any additional measures as it relates to closing our borders or any more businesses," she said.
Appealing to Public
“I’m counting on each and every one of you — if you see large groups of people, I’m counting on you to help us enforce this. It’s in everyone’s interest to tamp down the virus so we can [reopen] this economy,” said Raimondo.
“I want to let everyone know I understand how devastating this is to the economy,” said Raimondo. “I want you to know - in every meeting I ask my team what do we have to do to reopen this economy."
"This is not going to be normal. This is not a sustainable approach. It’s a temporary pause…to strengthen our system so that when we reopen we can keep everybody safe," she said. "But I do need a little more of your time, patience, and cooperation with these restrictions to buy us some time…so we will be able to reopen this economy. We’re trying to get to that day as soon as well can.”
