59-Year-Old Man Jumped and Assaulted by Teens at Providence Place Mall

Providence police have made multiple arrests after a 59-year-old man was assaulted at Providence Place Mall on Saturday evening. 

About Incident 

Police were called to the mall shortly after 7 PM on Saturday for a report of an assault.

The victim told police he had just left GameStop and was walking toward CVS when he encountered a group of males in the hallway. 

He told police one of the suspects yelled, “Jump him” before he was physically assaulted and knocked to the ground. 

According to the victim, one of the suspects brandished a knife and his phone was knocked out of his hands. 

The victim told police he was able to get his phone back after the suspects fled to call for help. 

Police said a description of the suspects was broadcast and a short time later, two juveniles and two adults were apprehended. 

Stephen Carrion, age 19, was arrested and found to be in possession of a knife, according to police. 

One of the juveniles, also in possession of a knife, was turned over to Youth Services Bureau for charging. 

Police say two knives were seized in the arrests.
