Anti-War, Pro-Environment Candidate Fontes on Challenging Senator Whitehouse on LIVE

Pat Fontes, who is challenging United States Senator Sheldon Whitehouse in the Democratic primary, spoke to her decision to get into the race when she appeared on GoLocal LIVE.

The 81-year-old Fontes spoke to her return to Rhode Island after living in Europe and “not even recognizing” the Democratic Party; Fontes also told GoLocal News Editor Kate Nagle how she had once supported Whitehouse before turning against him. 

Citing Whitehouse’s vote in blocking the Yemen war powers resolution in March — and confronting Whitehouse on his decision — Fontes said she was approached to run to bring attention to the issue, and more, on LIVE. 

"Mr. "BridgeFuel" Senator Whitehouse likes his dirty fracked gas over real clean energy," Tweeted Fontes on June 25.
