Organizing and efficiency expert Kristin MacRae of Organizing in RI says before you get started on organizing your garage, first get a plan in place on what you’ll do with the items you’re getting rid of. 

A few suggestions she has for getting rid of items include:

1. Renting a dumpster.  
2. Using Bagster. 
3. Calling 1-800-got junk. 
4. Having a yard sale. 

MacRae breaks down the process of organizing your garage into four steps:

1. Everything must come out of the garage.
2.Declutter and categorize.
MacRae explains as you take items out, decide what you are tossing, selling, keeping or moving to a new spot. 
3. Create a vision. 
Maximize your space and be sure to label. 
4. Organize.

MacRae says to organize items back into garage according to the frequency of use.
