Sommelier and beverage manager at Boston’s Eataly, Jaimie Puckett shares her expertise on wine with GoLocalProv’s Laura Afonso. After falling in love with wine during her studies at Johnson & Whales, Puckett decided to pursue a career in the beverage’s fine details.
“I think one for the most exciting things about working with wine is that you can never know it all, there is always more to learn,” says Puckett.
At Eataly in Boston, guests can wander through the market style set up and shop for, and find imported cheeses, Italian seafood, and fresh meats, along with four different restaurants.
“I work mostly with the restaurants, training our staff to make sure they are familiar with all of our cocktail programs and wine lists. Talking with our guests for our really unique wines that are exclusive to Eataly,” Puckett says.
The road to achieving the status of Sommelier is very challenging, Puckett first started in college “I minored in Sommelier at Johnson & Whales, followed by getting my first certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers right after I graduated. I then passed the second exam, earning myself the title of Certified Sommelier, which is internationally one of the most highly credited courts for sommeliers.”
Eataly carries solely Italian wines, and along with her, Puckett brought along a bottle from a vineyard she recently visited in Sicily. The wine COS, comes from southern Sicily, and according to Jaimie, is earthy and tells a story of the place from where it comes.
Visit Jaimie at Eataly located in the Prudential Center at 800 Boylston Street, Boston.
