RI Facing "Significant" Flu Season, Says RI Dept. of Health Medical Director McDonald on LIVE

Dr James McDonald, RI Department of Health Medical Director
Rhode Island Department of Health Medical Director Dr. James McDonald joined GoLocal News Editor Kate Nagle on GoLocal LIVE where he spoke to the upcoming flu season in Rhode Island - and how the state is preparing.

"Last year was a really bad flu season — if you knew anybody, you knew someone who had the flu last year," said McDonald. "We saw twice as many deaths in Rhode Island last year as we did the year before — and we saw about 1,400 people in the hospital last year."

"What we know about this year’s flu season is that we think it’s going to be a significant year — so it’s another reason to get the vaccine as soon as you can," said McDonald.
