What to Know About the Nearly 90 RI Restaurants Taking Part in Providence Restaurant Weeks

Christine Phillips with the Providence-Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau joined GoLocalProv News Editor Kate Nagle on GoLocal LIVE to talk about the highlights of Providence Restaurant Weeks — which she pointed out, includes more than just dining options in the capital city.

Over the next two weeks, restaurants in Providence, and throughout Rhode Island will offer special prix fixe three-course meals, including three-course lunches and dinners in addition to other menu options at nearly 90 restaurants.

A list of participating restaurants can be found at the Providence Warwick Convention Visitors Bureau website here.

“We’ve added an additional price point for dinner — it’s $49.95 — so for dinner [options] we now have $29.95, $34.95, $49.95, and some restaurants are doing 2-for-1 [deals] with those price points — and lunch is $16.95,” said Phillips.

“There are so many different places to choose from, there are so many restaurants that you read about — but everyone is kind of stuck in their ways and they go to the same restaurants over and over again,” said Phillips. “We’re all guilty of that, or not going far from home, so there are [participating] restaurants from Smithfield to East Greenwich.”

Phillips encouraged people to keep going back to the website during Restaurant Weeks — which run until July 20 — as she said additional restaurants will likely be joining the list.

“[The restaurants] really want to bring in people, but they really want people to become repeat diners. They want them to come to the restaurant and love it so much and really be impressed, so that they come back and they become regulars,” said Phillips.
