IGT Has “Come Together as Tight-Knit Community” to Keep Jobs in RI, Says Morin LIVE

IGT Senior Director of Lottery Marketing Amy Morin appeared on GoLocal LIVE, where she spoke to starting with the company 17 years ago as an administrator — when it was GTECH — and working her way up to the global position with IGT.
In her current role, Morin recently helped coordinate the logistics of having hundreds of IGT employees descend on the State House, to show their support for IGT’s proposed 20-year contract extension, which includes a jobs-guarantee to keep 1,100 positions in Rhode Island.
“I grew up in Rhode Island, I knew GTECH years before I became an employee there,” said Morin. “To know it was a startup with 6 people and now we’re 12,000 strong, it’s amazing we started here, and [are now] global.”

“We’ve had a tremendous amount of outreach from our employees [on this effort],” said Morin. “We did organize a group meeting, and everyone has come together as a tight-knit community throughout this process — like any organization would. We had almost 400 people there.”
In addition to working internally with employees, Morin spoke about her role in lottery marketing — and how it enables her to interact directly with customers.
“We partner with big brands, like Wheel of Fortune, and The Voice, to produce once in a lifetime experiences for lottery players,” said Morin, explaining how it works. “A player buys a scratch ticket, but if you don’t win, you can go online for a second chance.”
“We take them on VIP experience trips — we were in LA in May as part of the Voice promotions, and we had a lucky winner from Rhode Island, a man who brought his brother and they had the time of their lives. It’s probably one of the most rewarding parts of my job,” she said.
“We’re acting on behalf of our lottery customers — they might not even know who IGT is until they meet us, and understand we’re working on behalf of our players,” said Morin.
