Rose Weaver -- an award-winning actress, Rhode Island Hall of Famer and GoLocal Woman of the Year in 2019 — is creating a series of videos reflecting on her time as an artist.

Made possible by a grant from the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, Weaver says she is utilizing COVID-19 as “a catalyst to examine my arts work with major organizations in Rhode Island as singer, actor, writer, activist, education, and volunteer.”

“To reflect on my fears, anxieties and coping strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Weaver. 

Weaver provides pictures and commentary about her storied career, from her time with Trinity Rep, the Providence Public Library, the late Perishable Theater, AS220, RI Black Heritage Society. Providence Public School System as artist-in-residence, and more. v

Weaver is currently working on creating a comprehensive book of Rhode Island’s Black artists. For more info, go here.
