More About Plates
The DMV writes about the plates:
“The Gaspee Days Committee is a civic-minded, nonprofit organization that operates many community events in and around historic Pawtuxet Village, including the famous Gaspee Days Parade.
On June 9, 1772 brave colonists from Rhode Island burned the British revenue schooner, HMS Gaspee, during what has become recognized as the first bloodshed of the American Revolution. Since 1965, the Gaspee Days Committee has commemorated this act with our annual Gaspee Days Celebration each May and June.
Please help support these local historic events with your order of the official Gaspee Days license plate based on R.I.artist Karl Doerflinger’s painting, The Burning of the Gaspee.”
