95.5 WBRU’s Dunkin Donuts Summer Concert Series is coming to Providence, starting this Friday.

This year’s WBRU Summer Concert Series features 6 hot bands from Rhode Island and around the world, one performing each Friday over the next 6 weeks of summer. The lineup includes New Politics, Torn Shorts, The 1975, The Neighborhood, The Mowgli’s, and the Cold War Kids.

Saturday, June 22nd, WBRU is bringing 3 more bands for a special Summer Solstice Concert to celebrate the longest day of summer. Bands include Family of the Year, The Silks, Gentlemen Hall and the Extraordinary Rendition Band.

“I would be very excited,” William Van Deren, Promotions Director and a Summer Concert Series planner at 95.5 WBRU, said about the concert series. “It should be a lot of fun. I know that even if I wasn’t working there that’s what I’d be doing this summer!”

The concerts, every Friday at 7:30 in Waterplace Park, are not only free, but also feature fun contests and giveaways. Get pumped before the shows at the pre-concert parties 5-7 pm every Friday at Union Station Brewery, featuring appetizers, drinks, discounts, and prizes.

At the Concert Series, keep an eye out for promotions, games, and contests from Dunkin Donuts, the 95.5 WBRU BRU Crew, Narragansett, and more. The department of transportation and RIPTA will be having promotions; People’s Credit Union will be providing information and giving out free bottle openers. If you see someone dressed like a giant cup, grab a friend to take a video of you dancing behind “Cuppy” and send it to WBRU--the best dancers get prizes. Battle the BRU Crew at water pong for free tickets to Atlas Genius at The Met, or catch the Dunkin Donuts station to charge your phone and grab the BRU Crew to record a “Dunkin Donuts I am BRU” soundbite--you might hear yourself on air later!

Check out the Slideshow below to learn more about the bands.
